NEED A QUICK HOLIDAY SWEATER?

By Sharon Lyon
on December 12, 2013

For a VERY quick to make top with some shiny glitz, use the Bianca Top or the Perfect Tee Top pattern, Loes Hinse Design

Use the Pale Gray Heather w/Silver Thread Knit

Or the Black w/Gold Thread Knit

Both have some "shine" and would be gorgeous worn during the holidays!

on November 16, 2013

The look is fabulous. The directions for changing the skirt is found in the November, 2013, "The Look."

The skirt body is tapered. The flounce is in 4 pieces rather than the original 2. Each piece is made smaller.

Skirt body is microfiber. Flounce is laundered and pressed rayon chiffon.

GREAT NEW EUROPEAN COUTURE FABRIC

By Sharon Lyon
on November 16, 2013

Loes had to have this one. This fabric is GORGEOUS. You can wear it as a dressy jacket or with your jeans.

The horizontal woven boucle is woven with grays that range from almost black to blue gray with a touch of silver.

Loes used the Princess Jacket Pattern which will be published in early 2014.

Substitute the Mallorca Jacket Pattern using the Mallorca Sleeve Tweak in the Sept., 2012, edition of "The Look." This edition is on the website.   Fabric is European Boucle.

Cut a tad larger and serge/zigzag around all edges to prevent fraying. The end result is worth it. One seminar attendee at the last seminar

made her jacket out of this fabric. It was a knock-out!!!

LOES MIXES IT UP!

By Sharon Lyon
on September 03, 2013

LOES MIXES IT UP AGAIN ... with a red chiffon top and black knit bottom!

How to do it:

Prewash chiffon. Do NOT press. Chiffon becomes stretchy like a knit.

Loes used the Bianca Top Pattern.

For both front and back, make cut line approximately 12" down from shoulder seam at neckline.  Front and back meet approximately 3" below armhole. Add seam allowance. Can adjust length for personal preference.

Using front and back pattern pieces, cut out bottom knit pieces adding seam allowance at top where joined to the chiffon.

When joining top to bottom, width across body at cut line should be same for chiffon and knit. If needed, adjust width at side seams. Pieces must lay flat.

Continue on per pattern instructions including the sleeves.

Have "pieces" of leftover fabric? Get creative using Loes' great idea. Mix and match colors o your heart's content!

Turning the Loes Hinse Design Oxford pant pattern into cropped pants with a narrower leg

By Sharon Lyon
on June 25, 2013

To make new length, cut off 7 1/2" to shorten. (Or use your preferred length.) Don't make them too short!

On the outside seam at the new bottom cut line, draw a new cut line 1 3/8" inside the original cut line. Taper up to just above the knee.

On the inside seam, draw a new cut line 1 1/2" inside the original cut line starting and tapering as done on the outside of leg.

To make sure the the hem area lays flat, the underside of the hem needs to be as wide as the right side of hem.

This makes a great warm weather pant!
